The Detroit News reports that Chrysler will extend production of Dodge Avenger, Jeep Wrangler and the Dodge Grand Caravan.
The automaker has decided to extend production of its Dodge Avenger until the end of 2015, production of Jeep Wrangler until mid-2018 and production of the Dodge Grand Caravan through late 2017, according to the news report.
Previously, Chrysler had planned to replace the Avenger in January. The Wrangler was due for replacement in mid-2016. The Grand Caravan was due to be replaced by a new version in mid-2016.
According to analyst Jim Hall of 2953 Analytics LLP, “It’s exactly what they need to do. They need to focus on things with volume,” he said. “When you find your consideration is increasing, you want to cash in with high-volume vehicles — not a bunch of niche vehicles.”
