Chrysler’s Jeep official Twitter account was hacked by unidentified hackers Tuesday afternoon, Reuters reports.
After taking control, hackers started making false Tweets for about an hour until Ignite Social Media, which social media accounts for Chrysler, regained control.
Hackers replaced Jeep’s logo with General Motors’ Cadillac and claimed that Cadillac acquired Jeep brand from Chrysler.
Ignite Social Media noticed the first unauthorized tweet at 1:32 p.m. ET Tuesday, according to Ed Garsten, head of Chrysler digital media.
“They immediately contacted Twitter to start the process to regain control of the account,” Garsten said.
