When Hennessey Performance first revealed
its plans to create the Venom GT, a 1,200 horsepower car based on the bones of a Lotus, we though John Hennessey had finally gone mad.Little did we know that his incredible experience with horsepower and speed would come together and create such an awesome monster. Now the Texas-based tuner is at it again, and is trying to up the power to a stratospheric 1,500. The new car carries the moniker Venom GT2 and is an upgraded trim of the GT, not a new car. The car will be powered by a 7.0-liter twin turbo V8 and will hit that crazy HP number on flex-fuel E85 ethanol.
Thanks to its Lotus bones, and prodigious diet plan, the car only weighs 3,300 lbs. That means this new machine has hit the magic power to weight ratio of 1kg per HP. The car also sees interior space improvements and aerodynamic enhancements as well. No word on top speed or acceleration numbers have been given yet, but expect them to be as mind blowing as the orange paint. Official debut is later in 2013.
