The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently got their hands on a grouping of Ford Motor Company products and put them through their paces in a serious manner. A part of the evaluation outfit’s New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), the vehicles were exposed to three of the most horrendous crash tests standardized. After the dust settled, the 2013 Ford Taurus and Explorer as well as the Lincoln MKS all earned the highest safety score given out by the NHTSA: five-stars.
“These most recent crash test ratings from NHTSA are a validation that Ford is continuously innovating in the availability of safety technologies that benefit drivers and occupants in real-world accident situations,” said Robert Brown, Ford vice president of Sustainability, Environment and Safety Engineering. Established not to long ago, the NCAP testing takes new vehicles and puts them through side, front and rollover crash tests. If a product passes each evaluation, a top five-star overall score is earned. With the Explorer being well established as a solid SUV and both the Lincoln MKS and Ford Taurus utilizing innovative safety features, Ford has proven that it nows how to make a safe and sound vehicle.
