With high fuel economy a major selling point in today’s automotive age, numerous manufactures are building efficiency specific versions of existing cars. The next brand in line to follow suit could be Chrysler LLC who recently filed a request to register “HFE High Fuel Efficiency” with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. If finalized, the high MPG version of the 2013 Dodge Dart will more than likely be the first candidate for the new moniker.
Manufactures have been putting out economy tweaked versions of cars for the past couple of years with increasing vigor. With the likes of the Honda Civic HF, Chevrolet Cruze Eco and Ford’s Super Fuel Economy packages, an all-out non-hybrid mileage war has erupted. Chrysler has already announced it will join the battle with the Dodge Dart and according to Car and Driver Magazine, the Aero version should be launched in the third quarter of 2012. That name was decided upon earlier this year but with the recent filing for HFE, a name change will more than likely take place. Whatever its name is, the high-efficiency Dart should be able to achieve up to 41 mpg which is right on par with its rivals.
