The Ford Mustang is rather quick on the street but its speed and power isn’t exclusive to the real world. In the virtual realm of social media, the ponycar is down-right powerful as recently, it became the most popular nameplate vehicle on Facebook. With a growth rate of approximately 14,000 fans a day, the blue oval muscle car managed to surpass the 4 million fan mark, beating out all other official vehicle pages.
“Every fan, owner and enthusiast – regardless of age – feels a connection with Mustang, and that affinity is reciprocated through the online content we share with them,” said Ford head of social media Scott Monty. Ford pulled almost zero stops to ensure the Mustang’s popularity continued off the streets. Not only have full-length commercials played on Facebook, but vehicle customization applications and public reveals have all been apart of the car’s page. Interactivity also plays a part in the Mustang’s numerous fans as live video “chats” with Ford and SVT engineers have and will continue to take place.
