The name Porsche is synonymous with racing – and with winning those races – and now one of Porsche’s winning-est works drivers has been inducted into the Sebring Hall of Fame. Hans Hermann began his 17-year racing career in 1953, and before his retirement from motorsports in 1970 he had amassed more than 80 overall wins and class victories. Some of his most impressive, and substantial, wins took place at the Sebring circuit. In 1960 Hermann and co-driver Oliver Gendebien won the grueling 12-hour Sebring race behind the wheel of a Porsche 718 RS60. This was his first overall win at Sebring, and is one of the most important wins in Porsche Motorsports history. Hermann took the podium again in 1968 from the seat of a Porsche 908 with Jo Siffert as co-driver.
Hermann was not the only inductee to be announced this year. Before the 60th running of the 12 Hours of Sebring this weekend, the American racing legends Geoff Brabham, Denise McCluggage, Johnny O’Connell and Jim Downing were also inducted to the Sebring Hall of Fame.
