Ford of Europe’s do-it-all people mover, the C-Max, has had a run in with success recently. Since the current generation’s debut in 2010, both the standard version and the larger Grand have sold more than 135,000 units, with 118,800 of those being purchased in 2011 alone. That figure is more than double compared to last year meaning that C-Max families are growing faster and faster each day. “The C-MAX’s proves that even in an extremely competitive market and a difficult economy, customer will respond to great new products,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford of Europe.
In 2010, the C-Max was still teething and held a market share of 6.7 percent in its European segment. That share has grown to a remarkable 12.7 percent for this year with many of those sales happening Italy, Turkey and Ireland. “The only way to double sales and segment share in one year is win over new customers from the competition and that’s what C-MAX is doing,” said Waard. Ford is looking to increase the C-Max’s growth even more as the 2012 model year will bring the recently built 1.0 liter EcoBoost three cylinder engine. It will be another way for European families to travel in space, efficiency and comfort.
