The next big-time employee at Hyundai’s Design Center in Irvine, California is a man by the name of Christopher Chapman. A former Director of Design for BMW, he was responsible for past vehicles such as the X5 and CS1 Concept car. Since then, the Pasadena native has moved on and is now the Korean automaker’s new Chief Designer. His next task and responsiblity will be new vehicle and concept car design. “We are proud to add such a talented individual to lead the team of dedicated designers at HATCI that will continue to develop innovative vehicles for both the United States and global auto markets,” said John Krafcik, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America.
Chapman will serve under SukGeun Oh, Head of Design and Senior Executive Vice President for the Hyundai Design Center. Oh was the lead man behind many of Hyundai’s “Fluidic” vehicles and is excited to have a former BMW man work for his team. “With over 22 years of experience in the industry working on esteemed automotive brands, Chris provides a level of talent that will help further our design portfolio.”
