The North American based Leviton Manufacturing is a world leader in electrical wiring devices and has been since its start nearly 100 years ago. Now, they will be growing even more global as they have been selected by Toyota Motor Company as an approved Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment provider. The two companies are working together to build a custom vehicle charger that will be specific to the upcoming Toyota electric vehicles.
“Leviton provides electric vehicle charging products and a high level of customer service that will benefit both Toyota customers and dealers when the Prius Plug-in Hybrid vehicles and next generation RAV4 EV come to market in 2012,” said Rick LoFaso, corporate manager, marketing for passenger cars for Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Since Toyota plans of releasing two all-new electric vehicles for the 2012 model year, the RAV4 EV and Scion iQ EV, as well as a plug-in version of the popular Prius Hybrid, specific chargers will make ownership of these special vehicles much easier. A certified management and installation team provided by Leviton will be working closely with Toyota to ensure that customer needs are met.
