The General Motors assembly plant in Flint Michigan will be getting a boost by way of a $328 million investment. The plant is currently responsible for building GM’s heavy duty trucks which make up 40.4 percent of the American full size pickup truck market. As demand for heavy duty GMC Sierras and Chevrolet Silverados increases, General Motors is looking to increase that demand with a next generation model. Flint will be home base for the next generation of full size GM trucks.

“We are confident that the next-generation of trucks will continue to be an important source of revenue for the company and jobs for our members,” said Joe Ashton, UAW-GM Vice President. The investment into the Flint plant will not only help build heavy duty trucks, but will also help build jobs. 150 jobs will be either created or retained, adding to the already heavy work force of 2,047 employees.
