Earlier today was the first of 2 days here in Colorado for the third and final stop in the Global Rally-Cross Series. Some of the world’s top drivers strutted their stuff today in what we call “Super Rally.”
Super rally is held on the first of the two day event. Leaving Rally-Cross for Saturday. It all starts in the morning when drivers qualify with fastest lap times. Fastest time will receive the highest seed (1). And so on. A college basketball bracket, head-to-head, style elimination after seeding is finalized ensues until one champion remains.
Today, Tanner Foust came out the victor, and held on to his overall points lead. Second place belonged to 2-time WRC World Rally Champion Marcus Gronholm. While newcomer, Brian Deegan, competing in his first ever rally race rounded out the top three with a very impressive display of driving skills with minimal time behind the wheel.
Festivities for Rally-Cross will kick off tomorrow at 2pm at Pikes Peak International Raceway. Tickets are $25. For more information please visit: http://www.global-rallycross.com/
