The Volkswagen plant in southern Tennessee has been a huge point of pride for the company. Not only is it one of largest and most productive plants in the state of Tennessee that provides thousands of new jobs, it was also the very first (and so far only) automotive plant in the world to be LEED Platinum certified. Now, Volkswagen has something else to celebrate at the plant as they just rolled out their 500,000th Passat.

Wearing Candy White Limited Edition paint, the car came loaded with equipment and the 1.8-liter turbocharged engine.

This is not the end of the legacy that is the VW Chattanooga plant, but rather just the start. Volkswagen is currently gearing up to dump $900-million dollars into the plant as it prepares to gear up a second line. The plant was selected to produce a new mid-size SUV, and the project will add about 2,000 more jobs.
