Honda had lots of cars on the grid for Pikes Peak, but the most interesting machine they showed up with wasn’t even competing. Acura was able to score the title of “Official Pace Car” for the 93rd running of the event, and they sent the company’s newest supercar. With a bespoke turbocharged V6 engine, coupled to a trio of electric motors for the Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-heel Drive system and a nine-speed automatic transmission, the new NSX is the fastest, most powerful, and most advanced road car Honda has ever produced.
Sadly, as the pace car, this NSX didn’t tear up the mountain at full speed, but Honda and Acura did push the car a bit. They also used this opportunity to set up two-dozen special cameras along the course to record the car making its run. Expect that video footage to drop soon.
Otherwise, it was a good weekend for the NSX and for Honda. We will let you know as soon as we can brag the footage of the car making the run. So keep your eyes here on AutoTalk.com so you don’t miss it.
