Mazda’s new mid-size sedan the 2014 Mazda6 is shaping up to quite the competitor when it goes on sale, but Mazda has been a bit tight-lipped about some of the more important details like price and fuel economy.
That all changes today, as we have all the juicy details straight from Mazda. The car will start at $22,880 and come with a 2.5-liter Skyactiv engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The whole setup is good for 184 horsepower and an EPA-estimated fuel economy 25 city/37 highway. If you choose to drop the third pedal, the six-speed automatic gets a slightly better 38 mpg for the highway rating. Looks like the Altima’s fuel economy number isn’t as special as it used to be.
Buyers looking to spend a bit more can upgrade to i Touring trim for $24,495. 19-inch alloys, dual-zone climate control and leatherette are included in the increased price. A Touring Technology Package is also available for an extra two grand ($2,000) and adds niceties like a TomTom based navigation unit, 11-speaker Bose stereo, rain sensing wipers and the Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry System, among other items.
No information has yet been given about the forthcoming diesel powered Mazda6, but we will let you know as soon as we get the info.
