General Motors today finally announced pricing for the all-new 2014 Chevy SS. Starting price is $44,470, including a $995 destination charge.

The option list for the SS is seriously short: a $900 sunroof, a $500 full-size spare tire, and five exterior colors. Although the option boxes are few, the SS is still a premium offering. Standard equipment includes HID headlights with LED daytime running lights, Chevy MyLink with Navigation, a Bose audio system with SiriusXM, heated and cooled front seats, a color Heads Up Display, Automatic Park Assist, Slide Blind Zone Alert, Lane Departure Warning, backup camera, and keyless access with push-button staring.

Also standard is the all-new LS3 6.2-liter small-block V-8 making 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft. of torque. That massive power, combined with a 3.27 rear end, push the SS from 0-60 in roughly five seconds. Big 14-inch vented rotors clamped by four-piston Brembo calipers bring the 19-inch Bridgestone-wrapped wheels to a halt. MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link independent rear end keeps the four-door sedan planted on the road.

There’s no official word on EPA ratings, but Chevrolet says the 3,975-pound car will be subject to the infamous gas guzzler tax when it goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2013.
