4.2-liters. 450-horspower. 4.5 seconds. These are some of the impressive numbers of the new 2013 Audi RS5.
THe new RS5 marks the true return of the RS brand to American soil. The RS has been a storied badge that only graced the most powerful and dynamic of Audi’s vehicles. Aside from the very limited run of Audi TT RS models, it has been many years since this great badge has traveled across the pond.
That 4.2-liter V8 revs high and is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch S tronic automatic. While the 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds seems quick, the 174 mpg (electronically goverened) top speed is mighty impressive as well. Thanks to some high-efficiency ratios in that transmission the RS5 is quoted to have an estimated 23 mpg highway rating. Like almost every high performance vehicle Audi has ever made, Qauttro all-wheel-drive comes standard. The torque vectoring system can send as much as 70-percent to the front wheels, but the system is set standard at 40:60 front/back to give the car a rear drive feel.
Visual upgrades include upgraded 19-inch wheels with 20-inchers available, larger front intakes, wider body and two large chrome exhaust tips out back. There is also a large rear diffuser and an automatic spoiler that deploys at 75 mph. Of course there is also a smattering of RS badges from front to back, including on the brake calipers.
The interior receives some carbon fiber trim upgrades, as well as lots of aluminium trim and other RS exclusive bits.
Look for the dashing coupe to be on sale soon.
