After embarking on a road trip of a lifetime, courtesy of Chevrolet and the Illinois Office of Tourism, Matthew Comer – the first-ever Route 66 Ambassador from the United Kingdom – has concluded his journey. During his trip, Matthew cruised Route 66 in a 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, loaned as part of the Illinois Chevy: Your Missions. Our Drive. program.
Whether grabbing a bite at the popular Cozy Dog, in Springfield, where the first corn dog was invented, or catching a movie at the famous Route 66 Drive-In Theater – Matthew had the opportunity to explore some of the most iconic locations along Route 66 in Illinois. Throughout the journey, Matthew kept his followers updated about his experiences, including several tweets raving that the Corvette was “awesome!” Matthew also created custom videos and featured photos on his blog to show off his ride.
Matthew’s excursion garnered media attention throughout Illinois, including outlets such as WCSJ-AM in Morris; WJBC- FM in Bloomington, and the Free Press Newspapers in Wilmington.
“To be able to drive down Route 66 is unreal,” said Matthew, who concluded his journey on July 22. “I want to give a big thanks to Chevrolet for hooking me up with a nice car!”
